The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL complements the TAMIYA Sports Car Series in 1:24 scale as a classic sports car. The original vehicle was initially produced as a prototype for the in-house racing team to compete in national races and championships. In 1954, a production model debuted at the International Motor Show in New York.

Despite its "street car" status, the 300 SL was a spirited and elegant vehicle that was very popular in the United States and garnered great acclaim. It features a 3-liter inline-6 cylinder engine - hence the "300" in its name - an extremely lightweight body - SL stands for "Sport Leicht" or "Light Sport" - and the iconic gullwing doors. By the end of production in May 1957, 1,400 units were produced.

The TAMIYA kit reflects all the details: the complex tubular frame, the distinctive gullwing doors, and many more - thus, the model leaves nothing to be desired compared to the original.

The timeless elegant shape of this classic is stunningly captured and reproduced by the model. The hood and gullwing doors can be opened. The doors can be locked in the open position with a small brace.
Under the hood, there is a very detailed engine and engine compartment. The hood can also be secured in the open position.
The complex tubular frame - one of the car's signature points - is faithfully reproduced.
Nylon mesh is included for detailing the front air intake.
Many chrome parts such as trim strips, bumpers, and more are included in the kit.
