The British sports car manufacturer Lotus produced the legendary Seven between 1957 and 1973 in four model series. In order to keep the selling price low, the two-seater was offered as a "Kit Car." This eliminated the consumption tax that would have been incurred for fully assembled vehicles at the time. The only catch was that the tax laws stipulated that assembly instructions could not be included with the kits. However, Lotus exploited a loophole in the wording of the law and provided buyers with disassembly instructions, which simply had to be followed in reverse order during assembly.

The Series II of the Lotus 7 was introduced to the market in 1960. The models featured a redesigned frame, modified rear suspension, and smaller 13-inch wheels. The bonnet and fenders were switched from aluminum to fiberglass-reinforced plastic. The Super 7 also had a more powerful engine with up to 100 horsepower. In 1973, the sports car manufacturer Caterham Cars took over the production of the Seven from Lotus.

The Tamiya model kit in 1:24 scale allows for a detailed reproduction of the inline-four-cylinder engine, with carburetors, exhaust system, gearbox, and suspension authentically depicted. Aluminum air intake trumpets for the engine and a variety of photo-etched parts ensure an ultra-realistic finish. The Super 7 can be assembled as a road car or Clubman Racer.

Self-assembly is guided by a step-by-step or illustrated assembly manual. The assembly manual is naturally included in the kit.
Based on the assembly manual, the accurately fitting parts must be assembled. Parts can be painted according to personal preferences.
Tools, glue, and paints are not included in the plastic kit. These must be purchased separately.
