The static model is a recreation of the US M26 Recovery Vehicle. One of the main factors that allowed the Allies to continue advancing despite these power differentials was the rapid restoration and repair of combat-damaged tanks. This is where the M26 recovery vehicles and their brave crews came into play. The M26 was first deployed in 1943 on the Italian front and later extensively used for the Allied advance inland following the invasion of Normandy. Regardless of weather conditions, in the middle of the night, or under enemy fire, the repair crews constantly fulfilled their duty, recovering and repairing damaged tanks.
