The static model is a recreation of the Kawanashi Shiden Type 11. Stemming from the Kawanashi N1k1 seaplane, the Japanese Navy had a unique lineage among the long-range fighters of World War II. In January 1942, Kawanishi Aircraft began adapting the aircraft, with the project officially approved as the N1k1-J, and the prototype flew in December 1942. The TAMIYA model kit version impresses greatly with its precision and attention to detail.
