The display model is a replica of the self-propelled howitzer "Wespe." Originally designed as a stopgap measure with a production run of 676 units, the Wespe exceeded German expectations and was consequently used numerous times in support of infantry. While the five-person crew was not overwhelmingly protected, the vehicle posed a significant threat to Allied forces.
