The BB-62 USS New Jersey was the most decorated battleship in the history of the US Navy from 1943 to 1991. In 1943, it was commissioned as the second of a total of six battleships of the Iowa class. However, numbers five and six, the BB-65 Illinois and BB-66 Kentucky, were never completed and ultimately dismantled. Like the other ships of the Iowa class, the USS New Jersey had a displacement of 45,000 tons, a power of 212,000 horsepower, and armament of nine 16-inch (40.6 cm) guns distributed among three triple turrets (2 forward and 1 aft) with a maximum range of up to 40 km. The ships of the Iowa class were 270.4 m long and had a relatively narrow hull of up to 33 m, thus allowing them to easily pass through the Panama Canal.
After serving in major battles in the Pacific during World War II, USS New Jersey was recommissioned from reserve to active duty for both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. In 1982, the ship underwent complete renovation, modernization, and was equipped with the latest in weapons technology. Following the Lebanon Conflict, New Jersey was still in service during the Gulf War in 1991 before being finally decommissioned.

- Tools, glue, and paint are not included in the delivery of the plastic kit. These must be purchased optionally.
