The scale model is a recreation of the Suzuki GSX1100S Katana exhibited at the 1980 Motorcycle Fair in Cologne, which garnered attention for its aggressive body style. Many spectators admired the body's style but thought this vehicle wouldn't be produced as is, assuming the 1980 motorcycle was a custom build. In 1981, Honda released its version, staying true to the body features, with minor adjustments to the chassis and engine. The GSX1100 appeared just as it was exhibited at the fair.
