The Type 166 had a waterproof chassis and a rear-mounted, air-cooled 4-cylinder engine of 1,130 cm³ and 25 hp, enabling it to reach a top speed of 80 km/h on land. In the water, the vehicle was propelled by a ship propeller and could reach speeds of up to 10 km/h.
