The Yamaha YZF-R1 (1999) is a motorcycle of the latest generation in the supersport category. It incorporates all the technical finesse of its predecessors and has been further improved in key aspects. To achieve the goal of faster cornering on winding roads, the YZF-R1 was designed with the compact layout of a 400cc motorcycle. It features a short wheelbase and boasts a unique exhaust system exclusive to Yamaha. Its 998cc 4-stroke 4-cylinder engine with 5-valve DOHC (dual overhead camshafts) delivers a maximum power of 110kW (150 hp at 10,000 rpm). The YZF-R1 gained attention for its ability to effortlessly string one curve to another at breathtaking speeds. Over time, a wide range of tuning parts for the YZF-R1 became available on the market. Taira Racing, led by former All-Japan 500cc class champion Tadahiko Taira, pushed tuning to the extreme: from titanium exhausts for increased mid-range performance to a curved carbon fender and even an aluminum-spoked rear wheel, Taira Racing developed nearly every conceivable tuning part for the YZF-R1. The 1:12 scale model kit reflects all details with the renowned TAMIYA perfection and leaves nothing to be desired compared to the original.

Self-assembly is accompanied by a step-by-step or illustrated assembly guide, which is naturally included.
Based on the assembly guide, the precise individual parts must be assembled. Parts can be painted according to personal preferences.
Tools, glue, and paints are not included in the plastic kit and must be purchased separately.
