The scale model is a reproduction of the P-47D Thunderbolt Bubbletop fighter aircraft. The distinctive features of the fighter aircraft were its ability to engage in combat at extreme altitudes as well as at extreme low altitudes. This fighter aircraft mostly escorted bombers. The P-47D was active on both the European and Pacific fronts. To overcome inadequate visibility, the Thunderbolt models were equipped with the so-called "Bubbletop," a bubble canopy.
